What to do if a car is blocking your driveway in Ireland

A vehicle blocking access to your driveway can turn a normal morning into a major inconvenience. The best response depends on the circumstances and whether the vehicle is creating a safety or access issue.
CarAlert exists for exactly this awkward gap: you can see the vehicle and its registration, but you do not know the owner and should not need their personal details just to pass on a useful warning.
What to do
- 1Check whether the driver is obviously nearby and can move the vehicle safely.
- 2Avoid confrontation or damaging/tampering with the car.
- 3For a simple non-emergency heads-up, you can enter the registration on CarAlert and send the owner a message if registered.
- 4For enforcement, obstruction, danger or recurring problems, use the appropriate local authority, Garda or property-management route.

- Do not threaten, clamp, move or damage a vehicle unless you are legally authorised to do so.
