CarAlert

About

A calm, private safety net for Irish drivers

CarAlert helps you stay compliant and lets your community quietly look out for your vehicle — without a public feed, a plate lookup, or anyone learning who you are.

Our mission

Useful, private, and never a shaming tool

We want two everyday problems solved well: missing an NCT or motor-tax deadline, and not knowing your car has a light on or a boot open in a car park. We do that with privacy built into the design — minimum disclosure, no public directory, and no way to turn the service into outrage or surveillance.

Why reminders come first

Value before the network is dense

A community alert service is only strong once lots of drivers have joined. So we lead with something useful from day one: reliable NCT and motor-tax reminders. They are worth having even if you are the only person in your town using them. As more Irish drivers add their vehicles, the private alert layer gets stronger — but you never had to wait for that to get value.

Day 1

reminders are useful on their own, with no network needed

Then

community alerts grow as more drivers join

We are independent

CarAlert is an independent service. We are not affiliated with the NCTS, the RSA, the Department of Transport, Motor Tax Online, or An Garda Síochána. We link to the official services and treat them as the authoritative source — we never scrape them and never claim to verify your NCT or motor-tax status ourselves.

How we govern privacy

Minimisation in code

We hold only what a reminder or alert needs — plates, dates, coarse location, alert content. Minimisation is enforced in the product, not just promised in a policy.

No public exposure

No public feed, no plate directory, no owner lookup, no leaderboards. A reporter always gets the same generic result.

Legal review

Our legal and privacy documents are being prepared for review by an Irish solicitor before launch, with a clear path to the Data Protection Commission for any concerns.

Who operates the service

CarAlert (caralert.ie) is operated by Huftek Software Limited, a company registered in the Republic of Ireland, registered office [Registered office — to be confirmed]. We will publish the confirmed registered-office details here before launch.
