Terms of use

The rules for using CarAlert. By using the service you agree to these terms.

Draft — pending Irish legal review

These terms are a placeholder. They are being prepared for review by an Irish solicitor and will be finalised before launch. Do not rely on them as a definitive agreement yet.

The service

CarAlert provides NCT and motor-tax reminders and a private community safety-alert service for vehicles. It is provided by Huftek Software Limited. We may change or improve the service over time.

Independence and official services

We are an independent service and are not affiliated with the NCTS, the RSA, the Department of Transport, Motor Tax Online, or An Garda Síochána. Reminder dates are entered and confirmed by you. We do not verify your NCT or motor-tax status and do not scrape official registers. Always treat the official services as the authoritative source.

Your account and vehicles

You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for the accuracy of the dates and vehicle details you enter. Only add vehicles you own or are responsible for, and confirm them honestly.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

See our safety & community rules for the full list.

No automation or scraping of the service

You must not scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or use automated means to access the service or its data, nor attempt to probe it to infer whether a plate is registered or watched. There is no public plate directory or owner lookup, and any attempt to reconstruct one is prohibited.

No owner-registry access

The service does not provide access to any vehicle owner registry, and we do not hold one for public lookup. You will not use the service as if it were such a registry.

Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in our privacy notice.

Availability and liability

The service is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis. It is not an emergency service and we cannot guarantee an alert or reminder will be delivered or seen in time. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Final liability wording will be confirmed on legal review.

Suspension and termination

We may limit, suspend, or remove accounts that misuse the service or break these terms. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

Governing law

These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of Ireland, with the courts of Ireland having jurisdiction. This will be confirmed on legal review.

Changes

We will update these terms as the service develops and publish the finalised version after legal review.
