What details should you record after witnessing damage to a parked car?

When something happens quickly, memory fades surprisingly fast. A short contemporaneous note can be far more useful than trying to reconstruct the incident later.
CarAlert exists for exactly this awkward gap: you can see the vehicle and its registration, but you do not know the owner and should not need their personal details just to pass on a useful warning.
What to do
- 1Record the date and approximate time.
- 2Write down the exact location.
- 3Record every registration you can read accurately.
- 4Describe the vehicles and sequence of events.
- 5Preserve original photographs or video.
- 6Note whether there were other witnesses or nearby cameras.
- 7Alert the parked vehicle's owner through CarAlert if possible.
