I saw a parked car get damaged - how can I help the owner?

If you witness damage to a parked vehicle, the owner may otherwise return with no idea when it happened or who saw it. A good witness can make a real difference.
CarAlert exists for exactly this awkward gap: you can see the vehicle and its registration, but you do not know the owner and should not need their personal details just to pass on a useful warning.
What to do
- 1Record the time, place and what happened.
- 2Keep any photos or video in their original form.
- 3If another vehicle was involved, note its registration and description.
- 4Send the parked car a private CarAlert so the owner has an immediate heads-up if registered.
- 5Use Garda or other official reporting channels where appropriate.
Important
- Do not publicly accuse an identifiable person without proper basis.
- Do not edit evidence in a way that removes useful context.
