What is CarAlert.ie?
CarAlert · Published 10 September 2026 · Updated 10 September 2026
CarAlert.ie is a community vehicle-alert service for Ireland. It gives ordinary people a simple way to help a driver when they notice something wrong with a parked vehicle.
CarAlert exists for exactly this awkward gap: you can see the vehicle and its registration, but you do not know the owner and should not need their personal details just to pass on a useful warning.
What to do
- 1A passer-by notices an issue.
- 2They enter the vehicle registration on CarAlert.
- 3They send a short private heads-up.
- 4If the owner has registered that vehicle, the owner receives the alert.
- 5Personal owner details are not exposed to the sender.
Important
- CarAlert is not an emergency service, enforcement body, insurer or vehicle-owner directory.
- Serious incidents should still use the appropriate official channels.
