CarAlert

Is there a way to message the owner of a parked car?

CarAlert · Published 10 September 2026 · Updated 10 September 2026

There usually is not a public messaging inbox attached to a registration plate. CarAlert creates a voluntary version of that idea for owners who register their own vehicles.

CarAlert exists for exactly this awkward gap: you can see the vehicle and its registration, but you do not know the owner and should not need their personal details just to pass on a useful warning.

What to do

  1. 1Enter the parked vehicle's registration.
  2. 2Describe the issue briefly.
  3. 3Submit the private alert.
  4. 4If that registration belongs to a vehicle registered on CarAlert, the owner can be notified.

Important

  • The service does not reveal who owns an unregistered vehicle.
  • For legal, enforcement or emergency matters, use official channels.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send marketing messages to registrations?
No. The feature should be used for genuine vehicle-related heads-ups, not spam.
What if I typed the registration incorrectly?
Double-check the plate before submitting so an alert is not routed to the wrong vehicle.

CarAlert is an independent Irish community vehicle-alert service. It is not an emergency service, enforcement body, insurer or vehicle-owner directory. For collisions, crime or danger, contact the appropriate official channel. Browse all guides.
